In April Kate finished the last of the hard work needed to
graduate, she defended her art history thesis. She did a
wonderful job discussing dutch painters, chinese porcelain,
and nautilus cups. The very evening after her presentation
she and I went out, ate pizza, painted our nails while indulging
in Tiramisu, and then went to a movie. But the weekend after
we celebrated her freedom forever from late nights writing
papers, big time with a trip to cali for a long weekend full
of fun.
After a surprisingly pleasant exchange at the car rental
facility (the lady got a kick out of the fact that I laughed at
the tiny car options they were offering and decided to become
our best friend and hooked us up with an awesome car) we
pulled up at our gorgeous seaside resort. Seriously one of those
places that feel like heaven on earth.
We took naps in comfy down comforters then ate dinner
overlooking a stunning sunset, sipping on virgin majitos,
snacking on sweet potato fries, and enjoying hamburgers.
After strolling the grounds we sat chatting warmed by a
fire pit. A pool boy came over and shared all he knew about
the area and the newly built resort. The location was exactly
where the Old Marine World used to be.
The next morning we ate breakfast at a darling
cafe next to a fresh flower stall.
Then we headed to the happiest place on earth, Disneyland!
It was like playing as little girls again.
I wasnt quite ready for the shot taken on magic mountain
I thought I looked a little like Michael Jackson, actually
kind of fitting since we would later be cheering MJ on in
a memorial showing of Captain EO.
I was so happy to Mary Poppins, I've never seen her before
in real life :).
Lunch at the Blue Bayou. That place will never cease being
magical to me. We had monte cristos, yum.

Swimming in Pirate booty!
Pirates of the Caribbean is definitely one of my favorite
rides.

My sister Kitch and this movie are two of the best
things to come out of the year 1986.
Disney flowers, somehow more beautiful than other flowers.
California Adventure.
Again not quite ready for the picture, but we got a real
good laugh at the result.
We got to enjoy the electrical parade as well as the
firework show.
Last ride of the day, its a small world. I see new little
details every time that I ride that ride. Favorite quote
from the Kitch "We have been here at disneyland for so long...
I cant remember a time..... before we came here"
The humor was in the pauses, and we were both giddy tired.

Our favorite yeti, the only one we got to see since the
matterhorn was out of commission.
The next day was spent getting relaxing massages, soaking
in hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms. We did hang out
at the spa pool a bit, kate laid out but it was kinda chilly so I
wrapped myself up like a towel burrito and took a nap.
Kate said I looked homeless, I didn't care, Its my vacation
I sleep how I want to.
We got gelato at the resorts sweetshop and listened to
a live jazzband while we ate. Then watched Imaginarium of
Doctor Parnassus while eating cupcakes.
Our last day on vacation we drove to one of the many fields
of yellow wild flowers to take pictures.

Starting out at the lighthouse we walked a beautiful
trail along the coast talking and taking pictures.
