Final portfolios Fall 2009

Here are some of my favorites from the students'

final portfolios. It is so satisfying to see how far the

students have come since the begining of the semester.

It was pretty satisfying for the students too as they expressed

many times that they were impressed with each others work.

Thanks guys and gals for a great semester.

Leilani's final was beautiful, the whole semester she

only shot in her kitchen. It was fun to see how she explored

that one subject matter.

the water first turns that subject upside down with extreme

warping and then in the stem of the glass the subject is

right side up again...interesting, good eye)

Elements of Design Assignment

The students have to pull an element out of a hat

and that is the one that they focus on shooting.

High Key Low Key Assignment

This assignment requires the knowledge of how to

adjust meter readings to get a desired tonal range.

It also calls for finding subject matter and lighting

that can help achieve a 90% 10% split of highlights

and shadows. Its always fun to see how many students

choose the darker side vs. the lighter side.

Shutter Speed Assignment

Basically this assignment required that motion

either be captured frozen or blurred though

choosing the right shutter speed.

I loved what the students came up with.
