For our January culture club we went pretty fancy in honor of
Kelly's birthday that was in December, and had a Winter
Tea at the Grand America.
We all dressed up and topped ourselves off with my
grandmothers hats. I made everyone a high tea package
that included white gloves, red lipstick, mints, a doily,
and a CD of classy music. Every package had an art nouveau
personalized name tag. Im so glad that I chose to wrap all
the gifts in dusty rose and brown as they matched
the tea table napkins and decor.
We sat in plush couches and silky chairs and
had a tea flower as the centerpiece... a bud that
when put into boiling water would slowly blossom and
steep into a tea (non of us tasted it but just enjoyed
its magical bloom)
We then delighted in the tastes of cucumber or salmon or
ham or jelly tea sandwhiches...scones with lemon curd,
jam, and whipped cream.... spiced plum tea and coconut
almond hot chocolate... french pastries, coconut cake, and
fresh fruit for dessert.
We then planned the rest of culture clubs activities for
the year while listening to a live jazz band play the classics.
It was simply delightful.
