Papa's Camera

My Granna gave me my Papa's camera a few years ago and I

have loved bonding with it and my family through its lens.

I got it all fixed up by a man who adores rolleiflex's and even

centered a student show I had around "photographing what

Papa would have if he were still here" I used his camera and

shot images of that side of my family, especially the young

ones that had newly entered the family. I shot over 200 rolls

of film for the project which I developed and scanned myself.

I love those images and will have to post a few from that

collection soon. But now whenever Im going to be around

that side of the family I bring the rolli and try to get some

new faces recorded through its lens. I brought the camera

to the reunion this year, I was a bit rusty on shooting with

the waist view finder but it came back quickly. The family

was interested in the camera and its history, the kids loved

watching me load it with film. Thank you family for being

patient with me as I metered and took my time composing

shots. Thanks for even relaxing and carrying on what you

were all doing so I could get a few candid shots. I love how

the images turned out from this summer. It was like christ-

mas looking through the prints. I will cherish them forever.
