Bali Rice Terraces

We split up our time in Bali in halves, first half was dedicated to

spending time in the rice paddies and seeing the terraces, and then

going into town to see the temples and the monkey forrest.

The second half was to spend some time at the beach and relax,

finally.

Our hotel was beautiful. Look who we would see every morning

just outside our door.

We asked the front desk when was the best light for the famous Tegalalang

rice terraces and they said at sunrise. So we woke up early and drove

over there to find that the sun rises behind the terraces so all the terraces

were in shadow. It was hard to capture in camera and we decided to come

back later that afternoon when the light was better.

we came back for a very yummy brunch and a swim in

our hotels world famous infinity pool that over looks

the local rice paddies.

a young group of dancers came and did a few

traditional dances for us for and the afternoon tea crowd.

It was really cute to see the older girls move the younger

girls arms to teach them the dances.

this time we ventured a little bit onto the terraces.

the light in the afternoon was perfect.

got to see how rice looked right before it is harvested.

we then drove into town.

the architecture was more of a mix between

chinese and Polynesian.

We have been trying to catch every wold cup game we

can, our hotels have been great at providing areas to

watch all the games. It was fun to pass a local soccer game

in the middle of town. The sidelines were packed with people

BBQing and roasting veggies while cheering the players.

We then entered the monkey forrest. Monkeys are everywhere.

And they were aggressive and kinda scary. I was fuming at the

giant male monkey that climbed up on me and stole ALL of our

bananas and made me get yelled at by the jerk forrest employee

that had witnessed the whole thing but still randomly

thought that I had given all the bananas to the same

monkey on purpose. After calming down we were able

to walk around unbothered since we didn't have anymore

treats to make us look appealing. The forrest was beautiful and

the arial root systems we saw were incredible.

Monkey foot prints were all over my back.

We then came home and had the most amazing

tropical fruit salad. I didn't know everything that was

in it but it was all very yummy and beautiful.
